Lightning protection

Lightning strikes the ground over 300,000 times a year in the UK alone. Without proper lightning protection systems, buildings are at risk from structural damage and more importantly, their users are at risk of injury. A regulations-compliant lightning conductor system provides the vital protection needed.

Overhead glazing
inspection & maintenance

Constant exposure to UV light, temperature fluctuations as well as falling debris, can all lead to deterioration of seals, loosened fixings and blocked drainage channels. All of these can increase the risk of leaks, cracks, or even glass failure.

Mansafe & handrails testing

Mansafe and Handrail systems are critical for ensuring the safety of anyone working at height, from maintenance engineers to inspection teams. Over time, exposure to weather can cause corrosion and general wear which can compromise the performance of anchor points and fixings.

Siphonic drainage
inspection & maintenance

Siphonic drainage systems require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure they remain clear of debris, leaves, and other potential blockages. With rainfall increasing by 40-60% compared to historical averages, it’s more important than ever to maintain optimal performance and comply with the latest British Standard (2025).

Drone Surveys

Using high-resolution imaging, thermal technology and 3D mapping with photogrammetry, drone surveys capture detailed visual data to identify issues such as surface damage, water ingress and heat loss before they escalate into more complex and costly issues.

Roof lifecycle planning

By conducting comprehensive condition assessments, we identify optimal interventions, aligning the recommendations based on building use, sustainability goals and budget constraints. This approach ensures roofs can stay watertight, energy-efficient and compliant for the long-term.

Roof inspections

Without regular inspection and maintenance, minor issues such as membrane damage, failed fixings, punctured flashing, as well as issues with rooftop equipment, can quickly escalate into costly leaks or structural deterioration.

Solar panel inspection, testing & maintenance

Over time, dust, debris and weather exposure can reduce energy output and compromise system safety including increasing the risk of fire.  It’s why many manufacturers require evidence of regular cleaning to maintain warranties.

Roof Inspections

Commercial roofs are exposed to a range of environmental stresses on a daily basis; from heavy rainfall and UV exposure to wind uplift and temperature fluctuations. Without regular inspection and maintenance, minor issues such as membrane damage, failed fixings, punctured flashing, as well as issues with rooftop equipment, can quickly escalate into costly leaks or structural deterioration.

In accordance with the latest British Standards and SFG20 maintenance standards, our Total Roof Compliance solution ensures roofs are inspected at least twice per year, as well as after major weather events, with detailed condition reports and remedial actions highlighted.   At NSS, our comprehensive inspection, testing, and reporting services ensures every aspect of your roof remains watertight, compliant, and performing as designed all year round.

Drone surveys

Drone surveys provide a fast, safe and highly accurate method for inspecting hard-to-reach areas such as roofs, façades and gutters without the need for costly scaffolding or disruptive access equipment. Using high-resolution imaging, thermal technology and 3D mapping with photogrammetry, our Total Roof Compliance drone surveys capture detailed visual data to identify issues such as surface damage, water ingress and heat loss before they escalate into more complex and costly issues. All of our surveys are conducted in full compliance with CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulations and SFG20 guidance for planned maintenance, ensuring your inspection data is both reliable and compliant.

Through our Total Roof Compliance solution, we integrate drone surveys into your maintenance schedule to deliver safer, simpler inspections, removing the need for scaffolding and MEWPs for access, reducing downtime and disruption. At NSS, we have a team of qualified UK-wide drone pilots who can be onsite within 24 hours and provide fast turnaround on secure digital reporting.

Siphonic Drainage Inspection
& Maintenance

Siphonic drainage systems require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure they remain clear of debris, leaves, and other potential blockages. With rainfall increasing by 40-60% compared to historical averages, it’s more important than ever to maintain optimal performance and comply with the latest British Standard (2025). Systems should be visually inspected at least three times per year, with comprehensive cleaning, flushing, and leak detection carried out annually.

Through our Total Roof Compliance solution, we ensure your system stays compliant and continues to perform efficiently, protecting your site from costly leaks, additional damage to the fabric of your building, and disruptions to your business operations.

Managing complex siphonic systems demands specialist knowledge and proven expertise. It’s why we’re proud members of the Siphonic Roof Drainage Association and trusted by some of the UK’s leading brands including Wimbledon and Costco.

Commercial solar installations are a valuable long-term investment and are important element for businesses to work towards Net Zero, but their ongoing performance and lifespan depend on regular inspection, testing maintenance and cleaning. Over time, dust, debris and weather exposure can reduce energy output and compromise system safety including increasing the risk of fire.  It’s why many manufacturers require evidence of regular cleaning to maintain warranties.

Through our Total Roof Compliance solution, and in line with IEC 62446-1:2016 and the latest IET guidance, we visually inspect solar PV systems at least twice a year, with comprehensive electrical testing and cleaning carried out annually. Where sites have especially high cleaning requirements, this may increase to twice a year. At NSS, we always use pure water systems with no chemicals that could further diminish panel lifespan. Our compliance orientated approach ensures your solar array operates efficiently and continues to deliver optimal energy generation with the maximum possible return on investment.

Overhead Glazing inspection
& maintenance

Overhead glazing systems are designed to provide natural light and architectural appeal while maintaining weather resistance and thermal performance.  Constant exposure to UV light, temperature fluctuations as well as falling debris, can all lead to deterioration of seals, loosened fixings and blocked drainage channels. All of these can increase the risk of leaks, cracks, or even glass failure.

With experience across a range of difficult-to-reach locations such as atriums and canopies, we have the expertise and in-house specialist equipment to access any type of roof glazing. Ensuring ongoing safety and compliance with British Standards, our Total Roof Compliance solution provides visual inspections at least twice per year, alongside your recommended annual cleaning and maintenance obligations, keeping your glazing systems compliant, safe and performing as designed.
